Are you a student struggling with what to do next?

Watch Freya Broom, Digital Marketing Apprentice, giving her advice to students who are struggling with ideas of what to do after exams, when I interviewed her for my Career Stories Live series!

Freya talks about what helped her decide on the area she’d like to work in, and what made it much easier for her to get applying for roles.

About a month ago, Freya got her apprenticeship results, and got a distinction! What an amazing result! Thanks again Freya for coming on and chatting!

Here’s the video transcript of this clip:

Sarah – Have you got any advice for students who are struggling with ideas of what to do next? Either at GCSE age, A-Level, or even after university?

Freya – Yeah, so I would say my biggest bit of advice would be—coming off from one of the last questions—is about values. Find out what your values are, and then you can work out where is a good fit for you from those.

I’d also say work out whether you’re looking for one career for the rest of your life or if you’re happy to go between different ones.

For me, when I decided that I was happy to switch careers a few times in my life, choosing the first one felt a lot less daunting.

Yeah.

Sarah – Yeah, that’s great advice.

I know I interviewed someone who was really senior in the banking world, and their advice was to try lots of things.

You know, because you learn as much from the things you don’t like as the things you do like sometimes.

Freya – Yeah, that’s very true.

Freya shares more tips, and how she decided to apply for an apprenticeship in the full video.
