What is the alternative to booking onto my LinkedIn Secrets for Smart Students Session?

You can run LinkedIn sessions for your students yourself. How hard can it be?

The big plus is that that you’d be saving yourself some money in not hiring me… but really, your students are going to miss out on so much specialist support.

You’re a lecturer, or an in-house Careers Specialist. You’re amazing at your job, maybe you have a LinkedIn profile, or maybe you don’t. But either way, your knowledge of what students should be doing on LinkedIn is unlikely to be as up to date as you think. There have been 149 new features on LinkedIn so far in 2026. In 2025 there were over 200. LinkedIn is a dynamic and fast moving beast.

I’m on LinkedIn day in, day out, and a member of a group of LinkedIn nerds who hunt down new features like it’s a sport. LinkedIn themselves awarded me with a blue Top Voice badge, for 2 years running.

My experience includes managing a large corporate graduate programme, running group sessions for students in universities and colleges, delivering career management and LinkedIn sessions for organisations who want me to support their interns. Naturally, I’m a qualified Career Coach.

I work with Senior Leaders in a wide range of industry sectors to work out what they need to do to get to where they want to go next. Learning about those sectors helps me to understand what they are looking for in their early career hires.

The LinkedIn for Smart Students session is a blends of my skills, which means that students, if they follow the advice, to be clear on their career direction both in themselves and on their LinkedIn profile.

The feedback from the students who have attended LinkedIn Secrets for Smart Students is excellent. They tell me that if they have any sort of LinkedIn sessions at their place of education, they are at a very high level. Their tutors are not on there, or if they are, it’s a skeleton profile. There’s no-one to learn good practice from. That puts them off, they half-heartedly create a profile, but decide that LinkedIn is for older people, it’s not a place for Gen-Z and beyond. But it can be, and it should be. What better way to show how multi-generational working can be a thing. Building relationships with people of all ages can be so highly beneficial. People like to help people. Part of my job is to show students, and lecturers, how to get the most out of LinkedIn, and how it can help get to where you want to be.

Yes, there are frustrations, but there are normally work arounds. Yes, the NEET figures are high, students are applying for a crazy number of jobs, and vacancies are getting thousands of applications. Now, it is more important than ever to build a network, both online and in person. My sessions will help with that, in a way that will become comfortable.

Get on board with the forward thinking education establishments, and private organisations who have hired me, to deliver these sessions to their students, alumni members, interns and early career professionals.
