If you’re wondering what to put in your headline, read on!
The headline (directly under your name on your profile) defaults to your most recent job title and employer. You don’t have to keep it as that!
To change it, click on the edit section on the top section of your profile.
You have 220 characters to use. Think about what you’re using it for:
– Are you hoping for recruiters/headhunters to find you for your next role?
– Is there a product or service you are selling, and therefore hoping for people to find you in searches for that ‘thing’?
– Do you mainly want to cause interest/attract attention when people come to your page?
Then consider the key words/phrases that you should be including. For instance, in my headline:
– I want people to find me for my Career Coaching and LinkedIn Coaching so I have those words in there.
– I use words to describe my style. Clients and friends always tell me I make them feel relaxed (hence cool, calm and collected).
– I share a bit about me outside of work, as that often starts a conversation.
– I use purple and green emoji circles to break up the text and to be consistent with the colours I use throughout my profile and on my website.
Whilst you’re thinking about your profile, maybe have a think about adding a profile photo and why it’s so important to have one if you’re job seeking.
